is it worth it to feel things?

think about therapy. sometimes, it makes you worse.

there's a certain
- accountability measure
- relief
we need in life

there's a certain
- human resilience
we all possess

we have to remember that we're all grown babies. that you can be smiled at, after you bump your elbow, and suddenly forget it was supposed to hurt.

there's an aeon.co article i've read recently titled "psychodynamic nonsense." it gives this claim a fair shot, that therapy often causes harm. particularly now, this feels true for me, an educator who has been learning to take a punch & just get over it.

there's a way how. they show us this-- kids do. they model it for us every day. and so it is true. not every negative feeling is worth engaging with. not every un-pleasant moment is deserving of being cast into stone & then turned over. grow up. you will be better for having done so.

say all this with a smile. we're getting somewhere.
